If I had a £1 for every time I’ve heard this I would be incredibly wealthy.

So here’s the thing, your diet affects EVERYTHING!!!

It’s taken me over forty years to grasp this. As I’m in the health and wellness industry I thought it was time to educate myself on this important matter so please allow me the pleasure of sharing with you the facts about nutrition I’ve learned.

First off, let’s be clear (no pun intended)…… Good skin starts with good gut health. Let me explain why-

You don’t have to have a food intolerance to develop skin/health problems

The following five could be the culprits-

  • Gluten
  • Dairy
  • Sugar
  • Alcohol
  • caffeine

Skin problems such as acne, blotches, psoriasis and eczema are all thought to stem from irregular gut health.  As you improve your nutrition these conditions decrease.  For this reason it’s important to eat plenty of leafy green vegetables healthy low sugar fruits such as apples, pears, peaches, apricots and berries. Nutrition is first and foremost, the second is taking an effective probiotic.

For younger looking, flawless skin, you MUST start from the inside out!

As well as skin problems, poor diet can result in moodiness, anxiety, fatigue, low levels of energy and depression.

Serotonin is responsible for sleep, memory, happiness and sexual desire and Dopamine is responsible for feelings of euphoria, bliss, motivation and concentration. Both are made in the gut. If you have a poor diet your body doesn’t make sufficient amounts which may result in a reduction of all of the above.

If your gut is healthy, you lesson the need for medication. This is something I feel very strongly about, as I personally have suffered anxiety and fatigue resulting in taking medication. I’m pleased to say this is no longer the case as I now manage this through diet, including a HUGE reduction in my caffeine intake (6-8 cups of coffee every day) and a good probiotic.

Poor diet affects also your hair and nails and for all my massage ladies and gentleman did you know depriving your body of essential nutrients can lead to achy muscles, weaker muscles which can leave you more prone to injury?

Although eating a high protein, low carb diet help you shed excess body weight, getting too few carbs can cause muscle aches and fatigue. According to nutritional experts, 130 grams of carbs a day is the recommended dietary allowance.  Choose wisely, healthy carbs are found in whole grains, nuts, seeds, fruits and veg.

I hope this little insight helps. Helping you to achieve your best from the inside out.
